About

Sidekick International was created on August 2nd, 2017

Sidekick International began when Sidekick Websites was founded in 2014.

In early 2015, MCBP4W (an abbreviation for MCB's Programs 4 Windows) was established. MCBP4W developed a set of programs known as the "Update Week" programs. The Update Week programs included Neptune (a predecessor to Supernova), PhotoWorks Viewer (a predecessor to Embark View), Pencil (a predecessor to today's Pencil), Timemail, and FastSuite (a predecessor to Agility). While these programs were never formally released, various parts of the source code were, and they formed the foundation for our modern programs. Later that year, in November, MCBP4W and Sidekick Websites were formally merged as Sidekick Software.

On June 14th, 2016, Sidekick Software was reorganized into 4 divisions. The first of these was Sidekick Consumer Online Services, which would manage most of the websites, and is considered the spiritual successor to Sidekick Websites. The second, Sidekick Consumer Desktop Software Services, would resume development on former MCBP4W projects, which were stalled in January 2016. The third, the ABXY Group, would focus on operating system development and programmer-oriented software development. And lastly, the Sidekick Information Group was founded to maintain the Sidekick Database. While the terms "division" and "group" are used, they referred to divisions and groups of software, rather than people. Sidekick Software remained one sole developer.

On August 2nd, 2017, Sidekick International was formed, and Sidekick Software became a division of the new Sidekick International. Two of Sidekick Software's divisions, Sidekick Consumer Online Services and the Sidekick Information Group, were elevated to be equal to Sidekick Software under Sidekick International. Additionally, Sidekick News, formerly a Sidekick Information Group project, was relaunched and placed under its own new division, the Sidekick News Division. Sidekick Consumer Desktop Software Services and the ABXY Group remained divisions of Sidekick Software.

On October 26th, 2017, Sidekick International gained three new divisions. Virmactec is focused on virtualization software. Sidekick Developments handled projects designed too unstable to be placed under another division. And lastly, the ABXY Group was spun off from Sidekick Software and placed directly under Sidekick International. Sidekick Consumer Desktop Software Services was merged into Sidekick Software.
